Synonymous with summer vacations, the Méduse® is probably the most famous sandal model in France. This blue, soft plastic shoe has stood the test of time, and is still inseparable from days on the beach, by the river or in the pool.

Having enjoyed unprecedented success during the 60s, the Méduse was, and still is, a fashion item in its own right, on a par with the bikini, sunglasses or beach bag.

Méduse® sandals were designed in 1946. As leather had become a rather scarce resource, the idea of creating plastic sandals quickly germinated in the mind of cutler Jean Dauphant. Inexpensive, comfortable and practical, it only took a few years for the French to be won over by these distinctive plastic shoes.

We understand that the idea of wearing a plastic shoe can be frightening at first. That's why the PVC we use is guaranteed phthalate-free, BPA-free and can be fully recycled. We've also improved the materials so they're softer and won't cause foot pain.
